Before pups are even born....
We study pedigrees and lineage and are always looking for dogs that complement each others' strengths and weaknesses in order to produce the best possible pups. We look at what the potential dogs have produced in previous combos, the health tests of each potential parent and grandparent and of course temperament of the parents. We don't just breed 2 dogs because we happen to own both of them. If we do breed 2 dogs and own both, this pairing has been anticipated for many years through careful selection and we've finally produced 2 dogs which we feel can join the pedigrees we've created. With each litter, we have specific traits we are trying to reproduce and goals in mind for each pairing. Of course sound and stable temperament is always our #1 priority in any breeding we do.
Labor and Delivery
We utilize a service called WhelpWise which prescribes the Dam various medications to help the labor along, if needed. This helps us avoid a C-Section and allows her to whelp naturally, at home. We also utilize a doppler monitor to listen to puppy Heartbeats. We record the heartbeats and send the video to the waiting families. Another important part of the birth is making sure the Dam has excellent quality food, lots of love and neat and clean place to whelp. All puppies are whelped in our home, in the home office or extra bedroom. Alexia sleeps in the room with Dam and puppies for at least a week to make sure the momma doesn't step on a puppy.
Pups' first 2 weeks on Earth
We utilize ENS aka Early Neurological Stimulation. Early Neurological Stimulation was developed in the 1970s in military Bio-Sensor program, which tested effects of various stimuli on puppy development.
3 - 9 Weeks of Age
We use the Clicker method to train all of the pups raised here. Depending on how a litter develops, all puppies are conditioned to a clicker, are raised in an enriched environment with toys, visual stimuli, sound stimuli, different surfaces and scenarios. We also work on teaching them to Sit to be petted, come, sit, down, stand and problem solving. We have tons of videos of training that we do. Check out our newest VIMEO channel and our other VIMEO channel.
Time to go to their new homes
The day the families pick up their pups, is always bitter sweet. We feel so fortunate to have such wonderful families select us to be their breeder. We are here to offer advice for the life of your pup, and beyond, and will always make ourselves available to answer questions.
